It is not the first or the last time, UK has prioritized hiring of foreign nurses. Since nurses have been added to the occupation shortage list in UK, under the Tier 2 program, the occupations can be filled by nurses from abroad if they cannot be filled by a settled worker.
As per the research done, the various health services of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland tend to count different types of workers as their nursing staff. Simply put, the figures are neither watchable nor comparable.
Out of the several hospitals situated in the four countries of UK, three hospitals announced open gates for hundreds of would-be OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers). Adding this year, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), which is connected and come under the labor department, has paved ways for 270 job orders for these three hospitals. Much before in January 220 jobs were reported. The currently paved ways are just another overseas employment opportunity to all the globally competitive health care professionals.
Three hospitals, which possess job orders, are Whittington Health NHS Trust, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Notably, UK is in need of nurses. The chairman of Omanfil informed Baldoz through a letter about the 270 job vacancies available. Since Omanfil is recipient of Presidential Awardee of Excellence, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is making the job orders exceptionally easy regarding the labor office verification and approval.
The DOLE also added that recruitment agencies, which have been recipients of such award, are exempt from assessment in every term of volume as well as quality of deployment. Not only this, there are some other factors too which they are exempt from. For instance, proof, responsibility, social awareness, marketing capabilities, industry leadership, technical capabilities, welfare programs, allied services, compliance with recruitment rules and regulations, development plan, human resources are certain factors an awarded recruitment agency is exempted from.
